What should be noted when installing Earthing Pro GE

Intrinsically Safe (IS) Circuits

Earthing Pro GE is associated apparatus combining flameproof protection with intrinsic safety. Inside the controller, galvanic isolation converts the non-intrinsically safe supply into an isolated, energy-limited intrinsically safe monitoring output. This output is routed to the intrinsically safe junction box and then to the field clamp. The barrier prevents power and relay circuits from transferring ignition-capable energy into the hazardous-area clamp circuit.

Output Contacts

One NO/NC dry-contact relay output is standard; up to three outputs can be configured for pumps, valves, PLCs or auxiliary alarms. Relay contacts are rated 5 A at 30 VDC or 10 A at 250 VAC.

Installation

Mount controller and junction-box front panels vertically, keep covers accessible for inspection and ensure the display and field indicators are clearly visible. Route intrinsically safe wiring separately from power and control wiring in dedicated conduits; do not pass field wiring through the enclosure in a way that compromises segregation. Do not open the enclosure while energized and do not repair flameproof joints in the field.

After installation, verify input power, the designated grounding point, clamp-return detection, OLED sequence, ≤10 Ω response and every configured relay output. The unit is factory calibrated; commissioning is a functional verification rather than a recalibration.

Safety Standards and Guidance

EN IEC 60079 series: the certified arrangement applies the relevant general, flameproof, intrinsic-safety and dust-protection requirements to the controller and field circuit.

IEC TS 60079-32-1: conductive objects used where explosive atmospheres may occur should be bonded or grounded so charge cannot accumulate. A path approaching about 1 MΩ may still allow static charge to leak away in some circumstances, but this does not prove that an all-metal connection is mechanically sound.

NFPA 77: bonding and grounding practice distinguishes charge dissipation from verification of continuity in metal paths. A low-ohm check is used to expose paint, corrosion, loose clamps and damaged conductors.

API RP 2003: petroleum-transfer practice emphasizes establishing the bond/ground before product movement and maintaining it throughout transfer.

Why Earthing Pro GE uses ≤10 Ω: the clamp, copper conductor and grounded metal object should normally be close to zero resistance. The ≤10 Ω threshold is therefore a conservative circuit-integrity and interlock criterion, not a statement that every cited standard universally mandates exactly 10 Ω.
